Southwestern Montana Geology

SOUTHWESTERN MONTANA GEOLOGY IS A VIRTUAL GEOLOGICAL FIELD TRIP THROUGH THE VALLEYS AND MOUNTAINS OF SOUTHWESTERN MONTANA.  THE FIELDTRIP IS PRESENTED IN A COMPACT DISC FORMAT AND INCLUDES PHOTOGRAPHS OF ROCK OUTCROPPINGS, STRATIGRAPHIC COLUMNS, MAPS, AND SELECTED REFERENCES FOR THIS AREA'S GEOLOGY.  PRINT-OUTS FROM THE CD INCLUDE: STRATIGRAPHIC COLUMNS FOR THE PRECAMBRIAN/ PALEOZOIC, MESOZOIC, AND CENOZOIC; OUTCROP LOCATIONS, AND SUGGESTED REFERENCES.

This field trip presentation is based upon several years of teaching and geologic research in this area, and provides a ready reference - particularly for geology field camp faculty and students.   The "Southwestern Montana Geology" tour can be done either as an auto tour (all the viewer needs to do is start the application and just let the pages turn themselves) or as a self-directed tour using a table of contents to link to various pages on geological formations, stratigraphic columns, maps, references, and geologic summaries.  The automated tour takes approximately 25 minutes.

Recommended Minimum System Requirements: A PC Compatible Pentium II; 450 MHz; Windows 2000, XP or Windows 7; 96 Mb Ram; 114 Mb Free Disk Space; 16 Million Color Graphics Card at 1024 x 768.

This program will auto-install to a PC's hard drive.  Just follow the instructions as they appear on the screen for the program installation (this should only take a few minutes).  Then, just sit back, relax, and enjoy Montana geology.
